PatrolLing the wild mountain

Ruapehu is the highest mountain on the North Island. The Ruapehu Alpine Lifts (RAL) safety team are arguably the hardest working ski patrol in the World, battling tough weather conditions and a high rate of accidents on the busy ski field. Neil documented the team for the New Zealand Geographic, sometimes becoming involved in the rescue - camera in one hand, stretcher in the other. It was an intense assignment but one that he felt privileged to work on, capturing real events as they happened and highlighting the dedicated work of the patrollers.
